Today, I jumped on a Substack Live with Robyn Levin from Finding Your Edge & Rare Finds—Luxury Travel, and what started as a conversation about Nurse in the Market turned into one of those discussions that kept getting bigger.

However, somewhere in the middle of all of it, one theme kept showing up:
People aren’t struggling because they lack interest in the stock market.
They’re struggling because they don’t know where to start.
And honestly?
That part stuck with me long after the live ended because somewhere between talking about charts, sectors, Dogs of the Dow, Verizon, and all the weird market rabbit holes I somehow end up in...something clicked.
People kept asking different versions of the same question:
“How do I get started?”
Not:
“What stock should I buy?”
Not:
“What’s the next trade?”'
Not:
“How do I make money fast?”
The beginning.
People wanted help with the beginning.
And that surprised me because once you’ve spent enough time around markets, you forget what the beginning felt like.
You forget that words like:
Index funds
ETFs
Moving averages
MACD histogram
Support & resistance
RSI
...sound like another language.
You forget that charts look like colorful chaos.
You forget that opening a brokerage account for the first time feels weirdly intimidating.
And then I realized something.
Most people don’t need more stock picks.
They need a framework because people aren’t avoiding the stock market because they’re lazy.
They’re avoiding it because they’re overwhelmed.
And I get it.
I’ve had conversations with people in their 50s who still haven’t invested because they’re carrying fear from 2008.
I’ve talked to people who think they’re too late or people who assume everyone else somehow knows something they don’t.
However, the stock market isn’t reserved for finance people.
It’s not reserved for Wall Street and you don’t need six monitors and twelve charts open all day.
You need a process and a way to understand what you’re actually looking at.
You need structure before strategy because if you skip that part, every chart starts feeling important.
Every headline starts feeling urgent and suddenly opening your brokerage app feels like walking into Times Square with no map and everyone screaming directions at you.
That’s exhausting.
